Friday Random Top Ten Eight

Now THAT'S a Dance Craze, or one Crazy Person!

Ya pushes "shuffle" and ya takes yer chances. . . ('specially with Mr. Stabby around!)

1. Eres Mi Medicina Samy y Sandra Sandoval
2. Remember Not, Lord, Our Offences (Purcell) Chanticleer
3. Generals and Majors XTC
4. Days That Used To Be Neil Young & Crazy Horse
5. Thank You (Faletinme Be Mice Elf Agin) Magazine
6. The House Is Empty Now Elvis Costello & Burt Bacharach
7. Neuköln (Heroes Symphony) Philip Glass
8. Back Of My Hand (I've Got Your Number) The Jags

And we're gonna stop right there, as it's not gonna git any better than The Jags, in my opinion and this is my blog.

The first piece is by Panama's Top Típico/Pop group, the brother and sister Samy y Sandra Sandoval. There is no video, which surprises me, at this is a popular song around here. Can't dance to Purcell or Chanticleer, but that's what came up on the shuffle. The XTC numbah is great, of course, as is the Crazy Horse thang, but no video for that, either. Former Buzzcock Howard Devoto and Magazine cover Sly and the Family Stone in a spooky manner (the video is a live version which isn't as good as the single, IMO, butcha gotta woik wit wutcha gots.). Elvis and Burt being sensitive n stuff, followed by Philip Glass doing Bowie and Eno WITH A FREAKIN' SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA so we're hitting New Heights of Pretension at the Dance Party today. But it's not gettin' any bettah dan de Jags, so Here We Stop.

Waddaya listenin' to? Tell me all about it, I dare ya.

Is the Stab some kind of weird parody? I can't believe it's real. The costumes and the happy faces are perfect for the era of long playing album covers, but the Stab?

I love 'Back of my Hand'! I once heard Phillip Brett, professor of music at Cal give a lecture about Baroque music using that line 'I've got your number written on the back of my hand' as an illustration of something. I've forgotten the lecture, but never the song!

I See You!
