I hope everyone is enjoying their sock style; I know I am! As are those crazy kids in the picture above.

I was doing one of my sporadic photo hunts on the web, looking for appropriate photos to use for illustrations, when I found that great album cover, so today we are Top Twelve Hits! And what a great list it is! It opens with the Sex Pistols and closes with the Buzzcocks; you can't do better than that!! I love the randomness that is almost like a story: the Lonely Boy meets some Latin Girls and they go to the Casino to boogie, where they meet Mr. Apollo. They are robbed and the culprit is caught. He stands before the court and says "Before you accuse me. . ." O Lord, how vain these people are! Later, the boy and girls go to the Hop, and that's sugarsweet. Then the story falls apart (well, I suppose one might make the claim that it fell apart a while back, but you won't hear that from me!) 'cuza dat Samy y Sandra title, but I've been wrong before. But it all comes together in a harmony in my head.

Yeah, Elvis covers Dusty Springfield!

So, kids! Place your top ten or twelve lists in the comments so that everyone can mock your musical tastes!

And here are the lyrics to Mr. Apollo, one of my favorite songs.

I have seen Mr. Apollo
Uproot trees with his bare hands
I have seen Mr. Apollo's
Body building plans

He's the strongest man
The world has ever seen
And if you take his courses
He'll make you big and rough

Oh! And you can beat up bullies 'til they cry
"Oh lah! Oh, crikey! Let go, you rotter! Don't punish me!"

When you're tough, you're very fit
Your voice is rough, it sounds like grit
You are so strong, and proud of it
Thanks to Mr. Apollo

Follow Mr. Apollo
Everybody knows
He's the greatest benefactor of Mankind

Follow Mr. Apollo
Everybody knows
That a healthy body makes a healthy mind

You know! You know he's the
Strongest man
The world has ever seen
And if you take his courses
He'll make you big and rough

Uh huh, and uh, ha, you can kick the sand
right
back, in their faces! Kick! Ha ha ha ha ha ha!

When you're tough, you're very fit
Your voice is rough, it sounds like grit
You are so strong, and proud of it
Thanks to Mr. Apollo

Follow Mr. Apollo
Everybody knows
He's the greatest benefactor of Mankind

Follow Mr. Apollo
Everybody knows
That a healthy body makes a healthy mind

Follow Mr. Apollo
Everybody knows
He's the greatest benefactor of Mankind
Oh, yeah!

Follow Mr. Apollo
Everybody knows
That a healthy body makes a healthy mind
He can do it for you!

Follow Mr. Apollo
Everybody knows
He's the greatest benefactor of Mankind

Follow Mr. Apollo
Everybody knows
That a healthy body (oooh!) makes a healthy mind

Follow Mr. Apollo
(He can do it for you!)
Everybody knows
He's the greatest benefactor of Mankind

Follow Mr. Apollo
Everybody knows
That a healthy body makes a healthy mind

Follow Mr. Apollo
Everybody knows
He's the greatest benefactor of Mankind

Follow...

Yes, just give me ten years of your life, and I'll
trade in that puny flab for living muscle..
Physique you deserve!

Strong!
Chest and shoulders to hold your shirt!

Five years ago, I was a four stone apology
Today, I am two separate gorillas

No tiresome exercises, no tricks,
no unpleasant bending, Wrestle poodles and win!

Play beach ball! Shave your legs! Lope over walls!
Tease people! Brush them aside as though they were matchsticks!
Impress your friends!

Däˈvēd,

I love you in Sun Glasses (even though my second love, Richard the Tall) played stacks of the Carpenter music you endorse ( everytime we went to bed)...good thing I was mesmerized already (perhaps a tad drunko tambien).

Sing ON, Tonton Macoute!

So, Leo, you were drunk then, or when you posted this comment?

Cornfused!?!?

Leonard said...

Däˈvēd,

Nope, I'm a little over-the-top but not drunk for 30 years (almost, December 13th I will be)...anyway, Richard I was my lover at College and Richard II was my second lover years later (both, not on purpose, were 6'4 1/2" exactly)...Richard II loved the Carpenters and everytime I see their name I think of all those romantic, yet boozy, nights when II would put on stacks of Carpenters LP's and lower the lights...it was a fun real life memory (one that I fortunately survived...that is, I think I did).

Best to you,
Len
