Red Mr. Peanut Bank Makes A New Friend

This is the lovely Iggy Irene, dear friend of Dr. Val. She sits on her desk and, when she isn't talking to the smiling Christmas tree, she dictates blog responses. Dr. Val and I are trying to figure out a way to incorporate her into the Friday Red Mr. Peanut Bank and Gallito Mescalito blogging crew. She's a cutie!

Iggy is indeed lovely and certain to spark up the cast with her simple, yet radiant presence...good thinking...the "smiling Christmas Tree" is a quality inspiration/innovation.

The cats meow in all that you do as usual (I didn't know you were pals with Dr. Vals).

Blast from the past -- my maternal grandmother loved these little trolls (of the good sort).

Where was the terramoto?

Is this the terramoto that was at 3.03 GMT off the coast of Guatemala? It was a 6.1 magnitude.

This is a news report:

GUATEMALA CITY (Reuters) - A strong 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck off the Pacific coast of Guatemala on Monday, sending residents into the streets in panic but there were no immediate reports of major damage or injuries.

"We all ran into the street because the quake wouldn't stop. We were very scared," said Flory de Estrada, 32, a resident of the southern city of Escuintla.

The quake shook homes in the capital for up to a minute and residents in the city of about 2 million people reported paintings fell from walls. Small landslides hit rural roads, Guatemalan radio reported.

An earthquake of 6.1 is capable of causing severe damage but the fire department said the worst initial damage reported was cracks in eight houses in the department of San Marcos.

USGS reported the quake was at a depth of 79.5 km. Radio stations reported electricity blackouts in Guatemala City and Escuintla.

The quake struck at 9:03 p.m. (0303 GMT on Tuesday) with an epicenter 73 km south-southeast of Escuintla, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

Prayers for all of you. So far, it sounds scary but not deadly.

Yes, what Paul said. And thanks Paul for being very precise.

As for trolls...I had one all thru my college years. It was loaned out to many of my classmates when they were performing their Senior recitals.

Caminante, yes, that's the one...I was very near Esquintla at the time and it was LONG...seems I never receive information quickly out in the campo...and look, you had it all including interviews.

Glad nobody was hurt and thank you very much for the note.

I bought one in Denmark.

I don't know why you need to know that, but still......

Do remember the ones small enough to sit on the end of a pencil?

I worry about their children. Cross cultural marriages are so difficult.
