Welcome to the 21st Century!

Well, according to this article it seems that the venerable Church of England has decided that women are human beings and that the Holy Spirit may actually work through them too, and has decided that Women Bishops is not the fifth sign of the Apocalypse (well, not all of them; the CofE has knuckle-draggers for clergy, too). Of course, my canonical residency is in a diocese with a woman bishop, so I'm going to wonder what's taking everyone else so long. I lived in a house full of women (wife and two daughters, and the majority of the pets were female), for years, and, as a heterosexual male, I loves me the wimmin's.

So, welcome to the Twenty-first century, Church of England. If only we could get those Africans, Asians, and Southern Conians (I'm sorry, they are NOT Latin Americans!) to move forward!!!

Let the Catholics be next.

Who am I kidding?

This is GREAT though, really great.

Veni sancto spiritus.

well, they've made it to the 20th Century at least. Maybe mid-80s.

The CofE has a little more work to do to actually get to the 21st century.

Padre: Here is the tune the CofE is just now dancing to -- it is also a 1960s tune:

I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back an' pretend
'cause I've heard it all before
And I've been down there on the floor
No one's ever gonna keep me down again

CHORUS
Oh yes I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to, I can do anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman

You can bend but never break me
'cause it only serves to make me
More determined to achieve my final goal
And I come back even stronger
Not a novice any longer
'cause you've deepened the conviction in my soul

CHORUS

I am woman watch me grow
See me standing toe to toe
As I spread my lovin' arms across the land
But I'm still an embryo
With a long long way to go
Until I make my brother understand

Oh yes I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to I can face anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman
Oh, I am woman
I am invincible
I am strong

FADE
I am woman
I am invincible
I am strong
I am woman

I was thinkin' exactly what Dennis said. We won't hit 21 till they get more inclusive about loving committed relationships between human beings, regardless of gender, en toto.

I read about that pretty recently and it made me happy. It's silly that it has taken so long to get to this point.
