La Veranera en Verano

La Veranera, or bouganvilla is just incredible this year! I love the way it cascades over the wall towards the street. And it's perfect for Gregory Green Beer Day St. Patrick's Day 'cuz it gots da green for the Irishy thang AND purple for the bishopy thang!

One of my all-time favorite flowering plants.

Just down the street is a doctor's office in a 100+ year old typical Spanish colonial home built around a central, open air garden. During business hours the front door is propped open and you can see directly from the street, through the vestibule, into the garden. There is an ancient and magnificent bougainvillea that grows in this garden and spills over the roof and hangs down across the front of the building. It is a beautiful deep violet. My favorite color for this plant. The gardener knows just how to prune this one as it hangs down in front. It is beautiful and full of great majesty.

The bougainvillea thrive here in Monterrey. They are all over the city in every color; various shades of red and pink, purples, orange and bright yellow.

I See You!
