Can You Believe This?

Not on the list!

  • All-Time 100 Albums

  • There is a reason magazines such as Time should not produce such lists: if the list wasn't assembled by MadPriest and Padre Mickey, it will be full of errors, TERRIBLE errors. (What's the Story) Morning Glory by Oasis as one of the all-time albums of the 1990's? PUHLEEZE!!! or as we say here ¡¡PORFAVOR!!

Please belittle their choices here in our comments. Thank You!

    No Elvis Costello.

No Tom Waits. (Not even in the alternate choices!)

    No 1999, but Purple Rain?!?!

No "O Brother, Where Art Thou?"

No way in hell I let these guys anywhere near my stereo system.

You're the other person with a copy of "Here Come The Warm Jets" - I always wondered who it was. Although I've got the cd, I've still got the original album I bought when it came out. You know, it died a death back then, I think the Winkies did better with their versions of some of the tracks. Everyone rates later Eno and ignores "Warm Jets" but "Warm Jets" probably had more of a lasting effect on pop music, via punk, than Eno's elevator music. Have you got the single, "Seven Deadly Finns"? That came out just after "Warm Jets" and has some marvellous yodelling on it.

No Eno?! Matty Boy is right on his observations as well. The lack of Elvis Costello and Tom Waits are bad signs. But these lists are usually more of a popularity contest than about what is actually good or influential.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go listen to "Here Come the Warm Jets".

Here's my top ten list of album producing artists shut out from their furshlugginer list. (It's been years since I've used that word; feels good.) This is in more or less chronological order.

    1. Louis Armstrong
    2. Ella Fitzgerald
    3. The Kinks
    4. Tom Waits
    5. Brian Eno
    6. Randy Newman
    7. Nick Lowe
    8. Elvis Costello
    9. Los Lobos
    10. They Might Be Giants

And just to be in the holiday spirit. The Best Krimble Album Ever: The Bells of Dublin by The Cheiftains and many guest artists.
