Evo Morales, President of Bolivia, Beats Recall Vote

Evo Morales, the President of Bolivia and the first indigenous person to win that office, defeated a recall vote. 62% of the voters ratified the presidency of Morales and his vice-president Alvaro Garcia.

Gee, maybe they should have tried that back in the U.S. right after Katrina. We would be in an entirely different situation right now.

After having visited Bolivia in 2006 - not long after some serious rioting by indigenous people and as Morales was campaigning.

I have yet to write about this on my blog but it is formulating.

In any event, I continue to have mixed feelings about Evo Morales, but I think he is so dedicated to restoring dignity and hope to his people.

This was interesting to hear about on the news. The US government must hate on him so much. That's a plus!
