My mom, Constance Robina Johnson de Dresbach, was born in Kowloon on this day some, er, many years ago. Being born in China on an auspicious day like eighth day of eighth month is pretty cool, eh? She and my dad live in Sonora, California, up in the mountains. We argue about politics and religion, but we still love each other. I'll call her today and the Lovely Mona and I will sing "happy birthday" in english and español. ¡Feliz Cumpliaños, Mamá!
