What The . . .?

Last night was great, and all Correct-Thinking Peoples™ are charged-up and ready to save the nation and then the world.

Today is John McCain's birthday, and he celebrated by naming his running mate, his vice-president: Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska. WTF? The rich, white, oligarchs Republicans have been going on about Obama's lack of experience, and McCain choses someone who has been Governor of one of the least populated states in the Union (not that there's anything wrong with that). Before that she was mayor of Wasilla, a town with a population of 7,738 people. Being a Republican politician in Alaska, she already has a scandal going, something about firing the public safety commissioner because the commissioner refused to fire her former brother-in-law, a state trooper who is in a dispute with the Palin family. I understand she supports teaching Creationism in schools, which automatically disqualifies her for any office. Perhaps after watching the Democratic National Convention for the past few days, and especially after hearing Barrack Obama's speech last night, none of the other Repug candidates wanted the position. Well, it should be an interesting election year!
UPDATE Our correspondent in Alaska, Padre Robert, 'splains it all for us here.

Hey, go read Matty Boy's post about some really, really stupid stuff coming out of Fox News.

My thoughts as an Alaskan are posted here: http://episcopalpadre.blogspot.com/2008/08/mccains-running-mate.html

I think I dislike her already. Creationism in schools? Creationism has no place in schools, except maybe in a comparative mythology class.

And I think that picking a woman for his veep is a ploy to attract women who voted for H.R. Clinton. After all, who can question McCain's record on women's rights if he as one for a running mate? I find it insulting.

Creationism can work in schools if it is about how a kid can cream up creating an art project. Other than that... not so much.

She loves guns, she hates choice.
She does not give the LGBT people respect.
And she loves snow-mobiling and oil drilling.

Yeeh-hah!

Just to be fair, on of the things I actually admired her for is that while her predecessor ignored our State Supreme Court order to give state benefits to domestic partners, one of her first acts was to comply, even though she stated her forceful disagreement with it.

I think the Fox News "coincidence" pic is a mildly amusing fake. You can't find a mainstream reference to it other than blogs.

Not that there's anything wrong with being a blog ....

Fox shoots itself in the foot often enough, though, that something else verifiable will come around. Probably within the next 20 minutes.

I gots stuff to say about Ms. Palin, but I don't want to use all my good ideas in a comment when it will be in a post tomorrow.

As for creationism, it was just an answer in a debate, not a policy she pursued as governor. I'll wait to pass judgment until she answers it again when some reporter brings it up.

McCain did her no favor, and he didn't do himself any either. As Lily Tomlin once said, I try to stay cynical, but it's so hard to keep up.

Good griefsmier, this lady isn't exactly the "cats meow" of vote getters that McCain may have thought she might be (but of course one previous meeting isn't exactly a indepth friendship or understanding of a fellow human being)...I'm afraid that she has been delivered a bodyblock...but, apparently nothing much dims her spirit...which may be a indication of how "dim" she really is...I just saw on CNN International a "commenter" compare her to Dan Quayle...as in, who cares about the VEEP anyway? Gave me the creeps.

I See You!
