'Sup Wit Dese Guys?

I was reading about the defeat of the Automobile Manufacturers Rescue Thang by Republicans who were demanding large wage cuts of the workers. Why is it that Republicans always demand cuts by the workers but have no problem with CEOs taking enormous salaries and bonus, even when their companies are failing? Bail out the Banks and Investors but let the workers starve.

I guess this is the Free-Market so-called Republicans last gasp before we make their lives a living hell for the next four years. Enjoy it while you can, Fat Cats, 'cuz it's all over for you!

From a purely libertarian look, its not about class warfare or white vs. blue collar. It's about business model investment. For better or worse, Detroit's business model centers on depreciating goods where the bank/mortgage centers on appreciating goods.

My heart goes out to the worker. THe best thing that could happen to the worker is giving the UAW the bum's rush. Once, they were there for the little man, now they exist to serve their own interests.

Since I'm not a Libertarian, I do see it as class warfare. We've had class warfare since the Reagan years, but the Right-wing likes to pretend that class warfare only takes place when the workers are trying to claim decent wages and a decent living. The past eight years we've seen policies which move money from the bottom to the top. We've seen the looting of state and federal treasuries. We've seen CEOs of corporations award themselves obscene bonuses while the workers have been told to take cuts in pay, cuts in their pensions, and to give up their health care.

Let's straighten out them bastids at the top and THEN we'll discuss the UAW and the workers.

And thanks for sharing, Andy. I like it when you comment, for even though we usually disagree, you are always civil and a Dance Party kinda guy.

My brother (big Republican) works for GM. He's now having to beg people to contact their senators and contact the Gang of the Whitehouse and save them. Yes, he does work in a non union job. I guess you could say he works in the middle. I feel for him, but I will not write him back and say what I want to. He can't blame this on the Democrats. And my senators and congressmen voted for the bailout.
