Guayacanes blooming in the forest on Isla Barro Colorado
One thing I really like about the end of Verano (Summer) or dry season is the explosion of flowers. Everything breaks into bloom! The guayacans explode into beautifully bright yellows, pinks, and deep purples. My neighbor's veraneras, growing over his wall, are especially beautiful this year; I really like the red one. Our veranera is having some trouble getting started this year. The man who cleans-up the yard (I wouldn't really call him a gardener) got a little carried away and chopped it back just as the rainy season ended. I'll post another photo when it finally kicks into high gear.
