Ahmet Ertegun, Founder of Atlantic Records, Is Dead.

Ahmet Ertegun has died. He was a very important influence as a producer for rhythm and blues, jazz, soul, and rock n’ roll. He was Atlantic Records. Rest in peace, Ahmet. May his soul, and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace, and may light perpetual shine upon him. Amen.

And so say we all.

Right now in America, TV is going through a big fuss over the death of Lamar Hunt, who was important in sports (most especially pro football) and was one of the two billionaire brothers who tried to monopolistically corner the market in silver back in the '70s. That last part is getting left out a lot.

Ertegun is a capitalist as well, and in the record industry to boot, but he had talent and taste and the music he produced will live forever. In the movie "Ray", he is portrayed very favorably, including giving Ray Charles good financial advice when others were doing what they could to rip him off.

I think I'm going to listen to Ray Charles do "The Mess Around", and cry a little.

My bad. Lamar Hunt was not one of the silver speculating Hunt brothers.

Well Matty Boy, I loves ya, but no body here gives a frig about U.S. football and its corruption. And it's a few years until the World Cup and REAL fútbal. Dude, this in an international showplace!!

Last time I tried to watch the 49ers on T.V. they sucked so bad that I decided to go read some ?Athanaisus; that tells you how bad they were!

Well, Padre, Lamar Hunt is in the U.S. Tennis and U.S. Soccer Halls of Fame, as well as the Pro Football. He was one of the pioneers of the several U.S. leagues that failed to get off the ground. U.S. pro fut is still pretty weak, but we have enough good players playing here and overseas that our national team is now the terror of CONCACAF, slightly better than Mexico and completely dominating countries like, well, Panama.

I See You!
